These Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese “Slider” Wraps are my go-to for Christmas potlucks, brunches, or just hosting in general. They’re definitely a crowd-pleaser!
If you want to make them for yourself or your family as a treat, go right ahead. They’re pretty rich, so one is plenty for me. I’ve heard that they freeze well if you happen to have leftovers (doubtful).

So…what’s the serving size on these?
Good question. They’re pretty filling, and you only need one – although you might want more than one. I’m not your mom, so I’m gonna leave that choice up to you. Technically you should not have more than 6g of “frankenfood” carbs per serving if you’re following the THM plan, so the net carbs in your low carb wraps will determine the serving size.
Are low carb wraps or tortillas on plan for THM?
Low carb wraps or tortillas are considered a personal choice item on the THM plan. Look for wraps with 6g net carbs or less.
I like the Aldi Fit & Active Low Carb Tortillas, but I’ve used many different brands with success.

Gluten free tortilla options
I have not tried this recipe using something gluten free/puristy like the THM Wonder Wrap recipe, but I’ve heard from several people who had success with them!
Cheryl M says in the comments below, “I’ve made these several times now – quick and easy for dinner. However, since I can’t have gluten, I used the Crepini egg wraps from Costco (you can find them other places as well) which have 0 carbs and only 30 calories each, which makes the recipe more keto friendly as well. Because they are pretty thin and fragile, I use 2 for each wrap, so a package of 14 will provide 7 wraps. So far I think the pastrami and swiss is our favorite!”

Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese “Slider” Wraps
- Total Time: 45 minutes
- Yield: Yields 8 wraps (1 per serving)
Description
These low carb Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese “Slider” Wraps are the healthier version of one of my absolute favorite party foods. The wraps are filled with Swiss cheese and ham and then coated in the most tantalizing sauce – sweet, sticky, rich, buttery, savory, and naughty – but now not so naughty! They make an excellent quick lunch or snack for serving to guests or bringing to a party. Everyone loves them! THM S
Ingredients
SAUCE
- 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon THM Super Sweet Blend
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ teaspoons molasses
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
FOR ASSEMBLY
- 8 low carb tortillas
- 12 ounces sliced deli meat of choice (I like ham)
- 8 ounces sliced Swiss cheese
Instructions
Whisk the sauce ingredients together and set aside.
Assemble the wraps as shown. (It may help to warm the tortillas a bit in the microwave if they’re stiff and hard to roll up.) I am using the pre-sliced cheese packs and 16 ounce Lunch Mate value deli meat packs from Aldi. I use one and a half slices (30g/1 oz) of cheese and four thin slices (40g/1.5 oz) of lunch meat on each wrap. Place the cheese and meat in each wrap, then tuck the ends up and roll over in a burrito style. Arrange in a greased 9” x 13” pan as pictured, with 6 wraps across and 2 tucked in on the long end.
(Note: the tortillas in the pictures below actually aren’t the Aldi ones I prefer, and I only had 7 tortillas when taking these pictures, hence the missing one. Just in case I confused you….)

Brush the sauce mixture over the wraps, making sure the tops get coated with butter. Use all of the sauce! Bake the wraps uncovered at 350° for 30 minutes or until golden and caramelized on top. Serve warm.
You can totally assemble these the day before and then pop them in the oven before the party. So easy.

Low carb tortillas: Low carb wraps/tortillas are considered a personal choice item on the THM plan. Look for wraps with 6g net carbs or less. I have not tried this recipe using something gluten free/puristy like the THM Wonder Wrap recipe, but I’ve heard from several people who had success with them! (Make sure your other ingredients are gluten free as well if necessary.)
Molasses: This is allowed on the Trim Healthy Mama plan in small amounts (1/4 teaspoon per serving) for flavor. I like Grandma’s brand molasses from Walmart or a local grocery store. Blackstrap molasses is recommended I believe, but the nutrition info isn’t that different from Grandma’s and I don’t like the taste nearly as well. Molasses IS technically a sweetener, but it’s not refined sugar and is only used in a small amount for flavor.
If you’re not making these for health-conscious people, you can definitely use regular tortillas. I still prefer the wrap version because they’re less bready than the traditional sliders! (Using buns would soak up more sauce, so I don’t recommend that with this recipe.) Please note that people with ragweed allergies shouldn’t consume sweeteners with stevia, so you can use 3/4 cup brown sugar in place of the THM Super Sweet Blend + molasses if that’s a concern. (Not THM, of course.)

I used this recipe from Averie Cooks as the inspiration for the unhealthy version.
My friend Keri from My Table of Three has a version of this recipe using the popular mozzarella “Fat Head Dough.” If you’re gluten free or don’t want to use low carb wraps, try her recipe!

I made this for my family this evening with a side of sautéed zucchini, bell peppers, and onions! It was delicious and will be a staple on our menu going forward! Thank you for a great recipe!
You bet! Thanks for trying it!
Totally awesome. Switch up the ham slices to chicken and the cheese to sharp cheddar cheese and ole wrap. The sauce just topped it off. So easy😊
These are just plain yummy. Making them for the second time tonight, and preparing myself to maintain my self-control haha
Oh my, these are SO good! I’ve never had the unhealthy version, but I found myself craving a toasted wrap with ham and cheese. I came across your post in the THM group and had to make them immediately! I’m going to try to make a batch and freeze them so I can have them on hand.
I made these for ladies Bible study this morning and oh they were absolutely delicious!! I rolled up the ham and cheese in the tortillas the night before. Then I got up early to make the sauce and heat them. I will be using this recipe again and again!
This is a great recipe! I made the sandwiches on the regular rolls for my family, but added a wrap in the pan for myself & used this sauce recipe. My family can detect the sweetener a mile away & they usually steer clear of my deserts (more for me!) but I husband said that he preferred this sauce over the usual! I shared my post on the THM Journey app & linked to the recipe so others can enjoy!

Thanks so much for that info, Cheryl! That is so helpful! I’m going to include this info up in the blog post for others to see if that’s ok.
These were delicious! I made these for a finger food meal for our church and there were no leftovers! I cut each tortilla so that it was four thick rounds so it could go further. Made a small batch out of the leftover ingredients for an easy lunch too!
Loved them!
My young adult son deemed these Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese “Slider” Wraps, “the best thing you’ve ever made!” Wow! That’s quite a compliment and I had to share the praise with you since it was your recipe.
I did use the suggested Aldi tortillas, ham, & swiss and really liked the way the tortillas got thick and “bready” after baking.
That’s great to hear, Cecillia! Thanks for passing on the compliment!
I don’t think I’ve ever had the “real deal”, but I made these tonight and they were delicious, so rich and flavorful. I used spicy brown mustard and roast beef, and made part of them with smoked gouda and the rest with cheddar–yum! Thank you for sharing this recipe, Briana!
Sounds delicious!
I made these for dinner tonight. They were a hit! Thank you Briana!
I always loved the slider sandwiches made with leftover Christmas ham, now we can still enjoy the flavours with out the yuckiness of refined sugar and white bread rolls. I mean they taste good, but make you feel bad.
Not these! YUM!!!
Made some wonder wraps instead of the tortillas. They were great hot but surprisingly I liked them even more cold the next day ❤️
Yay! Thanks for the review with the wonder wraps! I wondered if that would work!
Made these with wonder wraps 2, but rolled them up like taquitos and secured with a toothpick. Sooo good, though I might find a way to reduce butter amount next time, as that is a lot of fat for this mama!
Can you freeze them ?
I haven’t tried that!
Do these freeze and reheat well? 🤔 my hubby can’t have cheese, so I was thinking I might make some and freeze them to have on hand for lunches for me (rather than making a family meal). Just curious if you’ve tried freezing them!
I’m sorry – I haven’t tried that! If you do I’d love to hear how it works!
