These low carb Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese “Slider” Wraps are the healthier version of one of my absolute favorite party foods. The wraps are filled with Swiss cheese and ham and then coated in the most tantalizing sauce – sweet, sticky, rich, buttery, savory, and naughty – but now not so naughty! THM S
These Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese “Slider” Wraps make an excellent quick lunch or snack for serving to guests or bringing to a party. Everyone loves them!
The inspiration for this recipe
A lady from the church I grew up in back in South Carolina brought the Hawaiian roll version of these sliders nearly every time we had a finger food function at church, and they always got cleaned up. Thanks for the good memories, Glenda!
I used this recipe from Averie Cooks as the inspiration for the unhealthy version.
My friend Keri from My Table of Three has a version of this recipe using the popular mozzarella “Fat Head Dough.” If you’re gluten free or don’t want to use low carb wraps, try her recipe!
So…what’s the serving size on these?
Good question. They’re pretty filling, and you only need one – although you might want more than one. I’m not your mom, so I’m gonna leave that choice up to you. Technically you should not have more than 6g of “frankenfood” carbs per serving if you’re following the THM plan, so the net carbs in your low carb wraps will determine the serving size.
Are low carb wraps or tortillas on plan for THM?
Low carb wraps or tortillas are considered a personal choice item on the THM plan. Look for wraps with 6g net carbs or less.
I like the Aldi Fit & Active Low Carb Tortillas, but I’ve used many different brands with success.
Gluten free tortilla options
I have not tried this recipe using something gluten free/puristy like the THM Wonder Wrap recipe, but I’ve heard from several people who had success with them!
Cheryl M says in the comments below, “I’ve made these several times now – quick and easy for dinner. However, since I can’t have gluten, I used the Crepini egg wraps from Costco (you can find them other places as well) which have 0 carbs and only 30 calories each, which makes the recipe more keto friendly as well. Because they are pretty thin and fragile, I use 2 for each wrap, so a package of 14 will provide 7 wraps. So far I think the pastrami and swiss is our favorite!”
A cookbook tweak
This recipe is similar to the Poppy Seed Ham & Cheese Wraps recipe on page 114 of Necessary Food, but that recipe is constructed and baked differently and only serves 3. This full size recipe is more traditionally prepared and makes a full 9” x 13” pan of “slider” wraps to feed a crowd.
