When I was gone for 10 weeks this summer, I missed my church as much as I missed my family. I am so blessed to be a part of a brotherhood of believers that cares about me and supports me, feeds me and asks that I feed others, and follows God’s truth. We are seeking to live out God’s story together. It’s good to be home. Indulge this bit of poetry, if you will. I don’t claim to be good at writing poetry, but I do enjoy it.
Brotherhood (a poem by Briana Thomas)
Home.
That’s what it feels like
When I walk into the
Scarlet-carpeted vestibule
In the early hush of a Sunday morning-
Take my seat in the smoothworn pew-
Listen to the silence-
Pray.
Absent.
That’s where I’ve been
Ten whole weeks.
Working, missing, yearning
For my family, my community.
They’re my church-
They’re my friends-
Family.
Together.
We sing, we cry, we laugh.
We harmonize in voice,
In thought as we listen
To the music of God’s story.
We fellowship for an hour
After the service-
Joyful.
Community.
We listen to each other-
Admonish in love,
Exhort to the truth,
Hold each other.
These bonds cannot be severed-
They will last forever.
Brotherhood.

Beautiful ! This sums up what I’d like to be a part of here below, but it is hard to find in the big busy city. Very clear and godly sentiments. Keep up the poetry, Briana.
