This week’s WOMP post is a little shorter than normal because I spent a weekend visiting some friends and did not bother to take pictures of what I ate while there (partly because I wanted a vacation from work and partly because it wouldn’t be a good example for me to show you some of what I ate anyway…*ahem* ice cream *cough*). You guys are gonna think that all I do is travel and eat sugary ice cream. That may or may not be partly true. Someday I will settle down and grow up. 😛
In case you’re wondering about the title of today’s post: I’ve been working on some goodies with fall flavors, but not all of them have been working out. Part of the problem might be that I’m not really a huge pumpkin fan myself, so I’m kind of picky when it comes to pumpkin treats. Since these WOMP posts are a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on here at my house, I thought it only fair to let you in on the flops that happened this week. They were all edible…just not quite blog-worthy.
If you’re new here, these “What’s on My Plate?” posts are meant to give you inspiration and show you just how easy healthy eating can be! They are not professionally-styled photo shoots, nor do they necessarily catalogue everything I ate in a week’s time. These posts aren’t meant to be guides for serving size or anything like that. I don’t always have everything on my plate at the beginning of the meal when I get my camera out (and I don’t always get my camera out, period). Please just use these posts as inspiration for what to eat, not how much to eat.

(E) Homemade Bread toast, one with pumpkin butter and one with apple butter, a few grapes, and a leftover turkey brat for protein
(E) Surprise, surprise! More chocolate oatmeal (with some banana slices).
(E) Uncle Sam’s cereal with low-fat cottage cheese, Truvia, and some sliced banana…the cereal on its own tastes like cardboard, but I like it with some accoutrements.
(S Helper) Roast beef, roasted carrots, onion, and radishes…with the amount of carrots I had, this is probably an S Helper.
(S) Eggs and bacon
(S) Taco salad
(S) Egg scramble with veggies, cheese, some leftover hamburger, and salsa
(E) Taco soup (there’s a recipe for this in my upcoming cookbook)
(S) Salad with a cut-up brat(wurst) on top
(S) Leftover roast beef melts on Joseph’s lavash bread + salad
(S) Cold cuts sandwich on lettuce
(Continuation of lunch above) I was still hungry so I added 2 Light Rye Wasa crackers, some more mayo, lunch meat, and veggies.
(S) Taco salad
(S) Bacon sandwich on half a Joseph’s pita
(S) My mom was hungry for something good, so she made a double batch of my Ultimate Brownies, some vanilla ice cream, and Skinny Chocolate to drizzle on top.
(S) Quick Pumpkin Cheesecakes – I tested this recipe a few times in the past week, trying to get the texture and pumpkin intensity just right. As of Monday I finally succeeded, so you’ll be seeing this recipe on the blog next week! I had this for breakfast yesterday….
(S) This was a pumpkin fudge of sorts. Gag. Pumpkin and fudge should not be in the same sentence.
(S) I was working on a fall ice cream flavor that wasn’t pumpkin (I already have a pumpkin cheesecake ice cream recipe here)…and went a little too heavy on the spices. It was just a little lackluster all the way around. But don’t worry – Pecan Pie Ice Cream is next on my list.
