This Velvety Earl Grey is a combination of so many of my favorite things: tea (specifically Earl Grey tea) + metabolism-boosting Velvety elements + THM Deep S!
If you’re not familiar with my Velvety drinks, they’re Bulletproof-style drinks that can be used in a THM Deep S setting, making them ideal for fuel cycles or any other time you want to give your body an extra fat-burning boost! I like to use them as afternoon snacks or a dessert after a THM S or FP meal. You can use protein-filled drinks like this as a meal on occasion, but a) I highly recommend that you get plenty of “real,” whole foods into your body as well, and b) it might not be enough to fill you up when your body is expecting larger quantities. 😉
I’m calling this my take on a London Fog even though I’ve never actually had a London Fog. (hangs head in shame) From what I’ve read this sounds similar; and even if it’s not a London Fog to you, I hope you think it’s delicious in its own right! Are you a London Fog connoisseur? Try this Velvety Earl Grey and let me know how it compares!

OH MY GOODNESS! Why did I wait so long to try this? I saw this recipe several months ago and put it in the back of my mind for “one day”. I used to get the Starbucks London Fog, but was trying to stay away from it because of the sugar content. I finally made this one and 1) it BLOWS Starbucks out of the water for flavor and creaminess and 2) it is healthy! Thank you so much for this recipe. I love love love it!
Yay! That is so good to hear!
I came across this post on Pinterest this morning. I am trying to get myself back on THM. This is a great treat for this cold winter afternoon. You never cease to amaze me. I love your recipes.
Just made this and it is my new fave!
I’ve been somewhat following you for a few months now and have tried and enjoyed several of your recipes!
This morning I tried this one…WOW. It is so much more like a London Fog than I could hope it would be!!! Now I can drink my FAVORITE coffee shop beverage without shame, from home, and now that it is healing and helping me reach my goals!
THANK YOU.
Aw, thanks for being a #1 fan, Danielle! 😉 I’m SO glad you liked the drink! It’s one of my favorites too.
This looks so yum!! I don’t have straight up stevia here – just gentle sweet. How much would you add to get a comparable level of sweet (or even a little less)?
Hi Katie! This sweetener conversion chart can help you convert between sweeteners >> https://media.trimhealthymama.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2017/05/07222306/THM.Sweetener-Conversion-Chart.pdf
I recommend always starting with less than you think you’ll need, then tasting and adjusting from there so you don’t accidentally over sweeten. Sounds like we have a similar concept of sweetness. 😉
After you have settled into married life, should you ever decide to make another cookbook, could you PLEASE make sure to include all your “Velvety” drinks? I am so in love with them, and would love to have all the recipes in one spot. 🙂
You bet! I’m working on another cookbook right now (no deadlines, though!) and it will include all the recipes published on my blog since the last cookbook was published, plus lots of exclusives!
Can I make a couple of suggestions?
I LOVE London fogs, so here’s what I did:
I used Earl Grey Lavendar loose leaf tea. The lavender takes it over the top!
(You could add some dried lavendar when you strep the tea.)
Add a splash of vanilla too. Trust me!
Just made this! I cut back on the Stevie and tastes wonderful! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Wow, someone who uses even less sweetener than I do! That’s great – and glad you liked it!
I’ve never even HEARD of a London Fog! Lol
I just discovered and fell in love with Lady Grey tea this Christmas time, so as soon as I saw this post, I knew I would have to try it. I’m so glad I did! This is the first velvety sip of yours that I’ve made, and it is delicious! I will definitely be making more. Thanks for sharing your delicious recipes.
Very very very good. I’ve never had a London Fog either and with this recipe won’t need to when I see it show up on a menu somewhere. I am trying it right now with a Rooibos Earl Grey (caffeine free) too so will see how that turns out. I did the black tea one yesterday 🙂 Thanks for the recipe!! and congrats…we are down to 33 days here at my house so that would make you about 27…All the best to you!
Well thanks, Jennifer! Best wishes to you too! Down to 19 now – and spent the last week moving my stuff to Louisiana and going over wedding details with my fiancé so I’m getting more and more excited!
I love the London Fog and have had it many times. I’ll have to say this is pretty darn close!! I used unsweetened coconut milk and absolutely loved this! Super creamy and flavorful!!!
Woohoo! Good to know!
Can you tell me what the difference is between an S and a deep S?
You can find more info about that in the “Higher Learning” chapter of the THM plan book, I believe. Deep S recipes are used during fuel cycles or any time you want to give your metabolism an extra boost. Deep S recipes cut out some of the ingredients that are typically OK in an S setting but have a few carbs (like berries, tomatoes, onions, Greek yogurt and cottage cheese) or are higher for your body to digest (cream cheese, nuts, cheese). 🙂
An S is high in fats, whereas a deep S is even more so.
That’s not always the case. 🙂 It’s more about the type of fats used than the amounts, from my understanding.
This is as good or better than the London Fogs I have had. It is so creamy and smooth.
Wow! That’s great! Thanks for trying it!
Sounds delish, I can’t wait to try it! We’ve been having negative temps for weeks here in PA, so I’ve been drinking a lot more tea and your velvety sips! ? I would also like to say congratulations on your engagement, I’m so excited for you!! I am a newsletter subscriber so I’ve known for awhile now but I just keep running out of time to click over and comment!
I cannot wait to try this! I love Earl Grey tea so this sounds like the perfect match for me! Thank you!
