Hadassah is three months out from her third birthday, but I want these pictures to have a home here on my blog.
Our special firstborn Hadassah turned two in August 2022! Here are some pictures from her birthday celebrated in Canada with Ryan’s family.
Ryan’s and Hadassah’s birthdays are 8 days apart, and we had a trip planned to Canada for the week in between so we decided to celebrate both of them then.
We stayed with Ryan’s parents for part of the time, and the other part we spent at a cottage on the lake about half an hour away. One evening we invited the family over to our cottage for supper + cake.
Hadassah’s Aunt Alyssa (age 11 at the time) made her this adorable kitty cake!

She may have burned her lip on that candle….
Her mother burned her finger on her first birthday cake, so what can I say? *shrug*

Hadassah lives life at full throttle, and sometimes her little brother bears the brunt of her energy, but she is generally a very sweet child and they really do adore each other. I love watching them grow up together and am so glad they have the gift of a close sibling.
Hadassah has reminded me often of Rachel Lynde’s description of Anne (of Green Gables): “And then, her temper’s pretty quick, I guess; but there’s one comfort, a child that has a quick temper, just blaze up and cool down, ain’t never likely to be sly or deceitful. Preserve me from a sly child, that’s what. On the whole, Marilla, I kind of like her.”
Anne of Green Gables – L M Montgomery

Her dress is special because it came from my Grandma Dickinson, and it’s Grandma’s legendary favorite color: purple. (She suggested I add a ruffle to the bottom to lengthen it, since dresses these days are always so short and Hadassah is tall.)

Cousin Winter is six months older than Hadassah. They’ve had a love/hate relationship in the past but it seems to be mellowing out as they get older. =D

Who knew that a pair of glasses could bring so much joy?
Typically children skip past the cards, but Hadassah was very caught up with her “mail.”

Sweet six week old Noah.

We grabbed a quick family picture with the self timer before leaving and used this as the back of Noah’s birth announcement.

I love your pictures and reading you’re updates. I’m so sorry it never worked for me to get up to Cleveland to see you as I’m still my Mom’s caretaker, and really don’t like driving in the big city, but I continue to with you and your adorable family the best and love your THM recipes! I’m happy for you!! 🙂
Bless you as you care for your mom! She’s lucky to have you!
