Hear me out: this Cappuccino Mix isn’t meant to be “real cappuccino.” It’s meant to mimic those buy-in-bulk Folgers mixes that you find by the equally bad coffee at church events and mix up with hot water in a Styrofoam cup. I’m no coffee drinker but even I enjoy a mug of this every once in awhile. THM Fuel Pull, low carb, sugar free
Late night snack
This cappuccino makes a great Fuel Pull evening snack to stave off hunger and give you some protein!
The mix itself is a THM Fuel Pull, and the fuel type of your cappuccino will be determined by the type of liquid you use to make it. (Find notes about that in the recipe below.)
Is this cappuccino mix a THM sipper?
This drink is not a sipper and is meant to be enjoyed with a meal or as a snack. (It does contain protein of its own due to the collagen.)
How to make cappuccino with this cappuccino mix:
I like to use 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of mix per 1 1/2 cups (12 ounces) of liquid, but adjust according to the strength you prefer.
Liquid options:
- MY FAVE: For the liquid, I like to use 1 1/4 cups unsweetened almond milk and 1/4 cup half and half for optimum creaminess. This cappuccino needs a little fat for creaminess in my opinion. This would be a light S, Trim Healthy Mamas. I don’t recommend using just water to make this cappuccino.
- FUEL PULL/DEEP S/DAIRY FREE: For a Fuel Pull cappuccino, use 1 cup unsweetened almond milk and 1/2 cup water. This would be Deep S compliant as well, although it doesn’t contain any of its own fat. This is a good option for dairy free folks. (Don’t use all almond milk in this case because 1 cup is the limit in a Fuel Pull setting.)
A great gift!
Mix up a batch of this cappuccino mix and give it away in a glass jar with a pretty ribbon and a handwritten label!

I also have a single serve Bulletproof style Velvety Cappuccino recipe. It’s not an authentic cappuccino but a deliciously frothy THM Deep S drink with cappuccino flavor!

Cappuccino Mix

Description

This drink is not a sipper and is meant to be enjoyed with a meal or as a snack. (It does contain protein of its own due to the collagen.)
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup collagen
- 2/3 cup decaf instant coffee granules
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup THM Super Sweet Blend
- 1/4 cup THM Gentle Sweet
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
Instructions
Whisk the ingredients together and store in a sealed container at room temperature. Make a test cup of cappuccino and adjust the mix to your taste.
I like to use 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of mix per 1 1/2 cups (12 ounces) of liquid, but adjust according to the strength you prefer.
MY FAVE: For the liquid, I like to use 1 1/4 cups unsweetened almond milk and 1/4 cup half and half for optimum creaminess. This cappuccino needs a little fat for creaminess in my opinion. This would be a light S, Trim Healthy Mamas. I don’t recommend using just water to make this cappuccino.

Notes
Add more coffee if you want it stronger! I’m not a coffee lover.
Collagen: This adds bulk, creaminess, and protein; I don’t recommend omitting it. (Doing so would drastically change how much mix you would use.) You can try using whey protein powder or plant protein powder in its place, but the taste is on you. I prefer the lack of flavor of collagen – and it’s dairy free for those of you who need that. That being said, whey protein powder would probably make for a creamier cappuccino mix (similar to a dry milk powder in a standard mix).
Sweetener: Adjust the sweetener to taste. Using all Gentle Sweet instead of combining Super Sweet and Gentle Sweet would give you an even better sweetness, but I like to spare my Gentle Sweet where I can since it’s not as concentrated (and thus more expensive)! (THM’s sweetener conversion chart recommends using 3x the amount of Gentle Sweet as Sweet Blend, but that sounds high to me so I’d start with less, then taste and adjust.) Keep in mind that if you change the volume of sweetener in the recipe, you may need to add more or less mix to your cup to compensate for strength. The bitterness of coffee and chocolate can play off the bitterness in stevia so a less concentrated sweetener is best in this recipe.
Allergy info (for mix only): gluten free, egg free, dairy free, nut free – use liquids that fit your particular allergies. Carton coconut milk may be a good option if you’re nut free but can have coconut products. Some full fat canned coconut milk may be a good addition for a more decadent cappuccino if you can’t add a splash of dairy like half and half or cream.

Do you know how much regular coffee should be added when making your cup (regular amount?) I am allergic to instant coffee, so I think I could make the mix without the instant coffee and then add regular coffee when filling my cup. (I only started drinking coffee about 10-12years ago. Didn’t like it at all. (I’m 71) I now add Pyure, a little bit of coconut oil (or butter) cream and collegin. MIX with stick blender! Drink this when I eat eggs for breakfast.
I’m sorry, but I’m not really a coffee drinker so not sure on that. Just experiment to find what you like. 🙂
Right away I knew exactly which cappuccino mix you were talking about because I used to love it. I made this recipe, and it’s so good! Definitely a lot like that mix (I haven’t had it in at least 6 years, so who know if I remember it accurately). Yum. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

That’s great to hear, Kristina – thanks!
Very good but is a cafe mocha not at all a cappuccino. 😊. Love your latest hot chocolate recipe. It is great and I make it with water only.

As I said – this is meant to mimic the gross Folgers mixes….bahaha… Nothing pretending to be authentic here.
I just made this. I need to find a better instant coffee for the next batch. It’s delicious!!! I used to buy the sweet mixes now this will be my “go to.”
Thank you for the recipe! I made the first cup as a hot drink, and the cocoa was a bit much for my taste…normal for me. The next three have been the same recipe but cold liquid blended with ice, and I really like it. Thanks for sharing!
Love the idea of blending it!
I used to LOVE the exact cappuccino mix you’re describing, but the ingredients are terrible! This stuff tastes almost exactly the same, but BETTER, and it is so satisfying. I’m delighted to be able to make a healthy version. Excited to have this mix on hand for late-night hunger pangs and sweet cravings! Thank you so much!

That makes me so happy to hear, Jaimie! Thanks so much for trying it!
Hi Brianna, do you have a suggestion for someone who just doesn’t like the taste of hot almond milk?
Have you tried unsweetened cashew milk? A lot of people say they like that better. It’s basically the same nutritionally so wouldn’t change the fuel type. You could also mess with water/cream/half and half mixtures, but that could land you in THM S territory and obviously wouldn’t work for dairy free folks. 🙂
Dear Brianna,
The recipe looks wonderful. Did you omit how to make it a deep S without allergies or did I just miss that?
Hadassah is a beautiful young lady! We have been blessed with 8 children. Our youngest turns 6 today! The first several were all close in age. We then had a long break with one following. Another long break occurred with two more (not twins.) One of ours has been married for about 1 1/2 years and is expecting this year! It is a day of reminiscing! Enjoy your young years with your young one! They really do grow up!
Hi Ingrid! Good to hear from you. You can find allergy info for the dry mix itself in the notes section of the recipe. I didn’t include allergy info for all the different fuel types and possible liquids because that would take a lot of time and space. 🙂
This looks delicious! I can’t wait to try it. Thank you!
