Ever wondered what my typical menu would look like? Probably not, if you’ve been keeping up with my “What’s on My Plate?” posts, but I thought it might be helpful to write out an actual sample menu using recipes that I use on a frequent basis. I hope it’s helpful!

Notes:
- When deciding what to eat, I generally try to follow my own advice in this post of Dos and Don’ts from a THM Veteran. Sometimes I succeed better than others. 😛 The menu you see below is a very honest representation of what I’ve actually been eating in the last few weeks. Need proof? Check out my latest “What’s on My Plate?” posts.
- Just because a menu like this works for me doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. Different people need different amounts of food.
- We try to cook pretty budget-friendly for our family of 6. Things like roast beef are rarely on our menu because of the price, but we just raised a cow and had it butchered so we have lots of reasonably-priced beef of all cuts in our freezer.
- As you can tell, we love leftovers! We often try to make big enough recipes that we can have leftovers for lunch the next day (doubling recipes if needed). My dad and I both work from home and my mom homeschools my siblings, so we’re all together for lunch.
- We made venison jerky with a deer my dad shot this fall. I don’t know exactly how I made it; I just concocted a recipe from what sounded good and we dehydrated it in our Excalibur dehydrator. I’m sure there are recipes on Google if you’re interested in doing the same thing.
- The chocolate oatmeal recipe you see mentioned here is coming to the blog next week! As you can tell, it’s my go-to.
- I use Greek yogurt a lot for snacks because we can usually find it cheap at a discount grocery store. It makes a great light snack. Some people may not lose weight well with this much dairy, but dairy is not an issue for me, thankfully.
- As a food blogger I’m usually trying out new recipes here and there, but if I’m not, this is what my menu looks like. We rely on quick and easy.
- I’ve generally portioned breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for one person (although they can easily be multiplied to take a family into consideration), and dinners are family-sized.
- *An asterisk indicates that the recipe is found in my cookbook, Necessary Food, as well.
